Esther Gaye Pendley

August 16, 1948 – February 12, 2025

Esther G. (Hilbrecht) Pendley, 76, of Evansville, formerly of Shoals, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at the Protestant Home in Evansville.

Born August 16, 1948, in Flint, Michigan, she was the daughter of Coy and Agatha (Hatfield) Hilbrecht.

She married Forrest R. Pendley on April 14, 1973 at the Odon Church of the Nazarene, and he preceded her in death on January 25, 2016.

Esther graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in Kentucky and earned her Bachelors Degree from Liberty University in May of 1996.

She was a CNA for many years, a homemaker, and a substitute teacher for Shoals Community Schools.

Esther was a member of the West Shoals Church of Christ and a past 4-H Leader.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her son, Roger Lee Pendley and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Forrest “Roger”; siblings, Leonard Hilbrecht and Donald Hilbrecht; brother-in-law, Edmund Russell Pendley; and sisters-in-law, Eldeana Bailey and Margaret Pendley.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care, Shoals. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from Noon until the service hour on Saturday at the Queen-Lee Chapel in Shoals.

Memorial contributions may be made to the West Shoals Church of Christ.
