With influenza A cases on the rise across the tristate region, area hospitals are implementing temporary visitor restrictions to protect vulnerable patients. Hospitals will enforce the following guidelines:
No visitors with flu-like symptoms, including fever, cough, sore throat, and runny nose.
No visitors under the age of 16.
Masks will be available and encouraged for guests.
Visitors are also urged to practice good hygiene, such as frequent handwashing and covering coughs and sneezes. Special arrangements may be made for certain situations, such as births or end-of-life visits.
Health officials remind the public that vaccines for flu, RSV, and COVID-19 are available and recommended. It’s not too late to get vaccinated, and individuals are encouraged to speak with their healthcare provider about their options. The Community Patient Safety Coalition of Southwest Indiana and Kentucky includes Daviess Community Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital and the Deaconess Health System.
