
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred in the early hours of February 14. At 2:05 a.m., dispatch received a call from Martin County requesting assistance for a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds at 15075 N US Highway 231. Deputies and EMS responded, and the victim was transported to Daviess Community Hospital before being transferred to another facility in stable condition. Authorities identified the suspect as Alexander J. Carlquist, 35. A two-day manhunt for the shooting suspect ended safely Saturday. K-9 Smoky, K-9 Barker, K-9 Jack, and K-9 Tracker, along with several other officers, searched a Perry County wooded area extensively after the suspect was spotted. Their efforts, coupled with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) assist, got the job done.
