
Martha A. Winklepleck, 87, of Willis, Texas, formerly of Elnora and Loogootee, passed from this life, with family by her side, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. She was born on August 21, 1937, in Washington, Indiana to George Randolph and Wanita (Burch) Long. Martha married the love of her life, George W. Winklepleck, on July 8, 1956, where they enjoyed 68 years of marriage.
Martha had a master’s degree in education where she was as a schoolteacher and then the school librarian for North Daviess School Corporation, with 31 years of service. She was a member of the Mt. Nebo Methodist Church and then attended the Frady Community Chapel in Raglesville. She loved spending time with friends, family, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Luda. She also enjoyed baking, traveling, camping, mining for gemstones, making jewelry, teaching, playing cards/games and puzzles.
Family left to cherish the memories of Martha include two sons, Fred (Theresa) Winklepleck of Odon, Doug (Astrid) Winklepleck of Cedar Park, TX; daughter, Lora (Miles) Ouren of Conroe, TX; grandchildren, Nathan, Shannon, Erin, Carrie, Vanessa, Alana, Mason, Miller, Morgan, 10 great-grandchildren, her brother Ronald Long, and several nieces and nephews.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Harold and Bill Long.
