As Influenza A cases surge across the tristate region, hospitals are implementing temporary visitor restrictions to protect vulnerable patients. The Community Patient Safety Coalition of Southwest Indiana/Kentucky announced that visitors with symptoms such as fever, cough, or sore throat will not be permitted, and those under 16 are restricted from visiting. Masks will be available and encouraged, especially in waiting areas. Special exceptions may be made for certain circumstances, such as births or end-of-life visits. Hospitals enacting these restrictions include Daviess Community Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Ascension St. Vincent , and Deaconess Rehabilitation.
