Julia Ann Thomas, 68, peacefully went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on Friday, February, 21, 2025, at 6:25pm.

She was born on July 27, 1956, to the late Daniel R. & Kathleen (Conway) Daily, in Jasper, Indiana.

Julia attended Washington Catholic High School, and was a member of the graduating class of 1974. She worked for over 48 years at the Daviess Community Hospital as a CNA, and most recently, an ER Unit Secretary. On July 5, 1997, she married the love of her life, Rex Thomas, and they spent over 25 years together before his passing in 2023.

She enjoyed fishing, camping, and babying and cuddling her dog, Otis. Julia loved her grandchildren immensely, and whatever any of the grandkids were doing, St. JuJu was there showing support for them. She was proud to have organized the “Halloween Golf Cart Parade” in Plainville in 2021 with her late husband Rex, making sure children were still able to get their Halloween candy even through the pandemic of COVID-19. She was a past member of the Plainville First United Methodist Church, and also the Wesley United Methodist Church in Washington where she served faithfully alongside her husband.

Survivors of Julia include her children, Amber (David II) Shimer of Petersburg, IN, and Jonathon W. Thomas of Plainville, IN; her bonus kids, Mindy & Adam Alford; her siblings, Maureen (Mark) Strange of Washington, IN, Margaret Daily and her significant other Gary Hinkle of Washington, IN, and Kevin (Anna) Daily of Lawrenceburg, IN; her grandchildren, Jacob Shimer, Isaac Shimer, Annabeth Shimer, Isabelle Thomas, and Anastasia Thomas; bonus grandkids, Payton, Colton, and Brayton Alford; her sister-in-law, Mindy Daily of Columbus, OH; several nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and nephews, and her furry companion, Otis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex; her parents, Daniel & Kathleen; her siblings, Patrick Daily, and P. James Daily; and her nieces, Erika Daily, and Kristen Kellar.

Visitation for Julia will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 10:00am-2:00pm ET at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St., Washington, IN 47501. Following the conclusion of visitation, a funeral service will be conducted starting at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at Plainville Cemetery where Julia will be laid to rest next to her husband, Rex.
