
Donald B. O’Brian, Sr., 93, passed away during the morning hours of February 23, 2025. He was born in Washington, May 25, 1931, the son of James C. and Etta (Clements) O’Brian.
A 1949 graduate of Montgomery High School, Donald went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Later, he retired from General Motors where he had worked for thirty-five years. A true outdoorsman, Donald enjoyed fishing and duck and geese hunting, particularly at Glendale. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited. A devout Catholic, Donald was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church in Montgomery.
Those who now mourn Donald’s passing include his children: Rick (Rhonda) Miller of Pittsboro; Debra (Gail Levenson) LaRussa of Fountaintown; Dawn (Keith) Sowers of Ladoga; and Renee (George) Merrit of Pittsboro. Donald was blessed with ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
During his lifetime, Donald mourned the loss of his parents, Etta and James O’Brian; his son, Donald “Dusty” O’Brian, Jr.; and brothers, Robert O’Brian and Chris O’Brian.
Visitation for Donald B. O’Brian, Sr. will be 10:00 am – 12:00 noon, Friday, February 28, 2025, at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Montgomery.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald B. O’Brian, Sr. will immediately follow the visitation and begin at 12:00 noon, Friday, February 28, 2025, at the St. Peter Catholic Church. Father Stephen McGinnis will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Peter Cemetery. Donald O’Brian will be accorded military honors at the gravesite.
