The Pike County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corporation held their Annual Meeting last night at Petersburg Elementary.  A good crowd of local business leaders and community members was on hand to enjoy the meal and the updates on exciting things in Pike County.  AES was named the Business of the Year.  They have announced they will be investing $1.1 billion back into Pike County over the next two years.  The crowd also heard about the new Buffalo Trace Trail Project connecting the two parks, Hornady Park in Petersburg and Prides Creek Park. The five-million-dollar project will be a two-and-a-half-mile trail from Main Street to the business district and Illinois Street to Highway 61 and then to the entrance of Prides Creek Park. The County will be working with the IU Center for Rural Engagement to develop art and murals along the trail depicting all the great things in Pike County.  Over $360 million in capital investments are currently under construction in the county. And nearly 500 acres of land are now shovel-ready for business expansion.  The Pike County Chamber of Commerce also announced an exciting new campaign, “Powered by Pike,” highlighting the energy produced in Pike County and its impact on the entire region.
