Acclaimed columnist John Feinstein, author of a book that everyone in the state of Indiana was reading in 1986 and 87 ‘Season on the Brink,’ has died at the age of 69. Feinstein was paid a $17,500 advance to write the book, and had to take a leave of absence from The Washington Post. Feinstein expected to lose money doing the book, but proceeded with the project anyway in the hopes that it would be good and convince someone to have him write a second book. But Season on the Brink not only made Feinstien money but also made him a household name around the country.
Former Jet Mark Gastineau is suing ESPN for $25M over viral confrontation video with Brett Favre. Gastineau was filmed at a 2023 memorabilia show confronting Favre over losing his NFL sack record and the clip was used in and to promote the 30 for 30 film “The New York Sack Exchange.” And if you don’t know the story, Farve laid down and let Michael Strahan have a free sack to break Gastineau’s season sack record.
