Paul Gerald Moffitt

February 7, 1943 – March 15, 2025

 

Paul G. Moffitt, 82, of Shoals, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Sycamore Care Strategies in Loogootee.

 

Born February 7, 1943, in Shoals, he was the son of Paul Columbus and Dorothy (Lundy) Moffitt.

 

He married Rose Lee Padgett in 1964, and she preceded him in death in November 2008. He then married Brenda McPherson, and she preceded him in death in February 2019.

 

Paul graduated from Loogootee High School with the class of 1961. After graduation, he worked at the Brickyard before becoming a farmer in Greene County for several years and was a truck driver, earning Trucker of the Year honors in 1998.

 

He was a member of the Natchez Church.

 

Paul enjoyed working on the farm, attending the rodeo annually in Palestine, Illinois, and spending time with his family. One of his most proud accomplishments was timbering the logs for his cabin from his property that he built on his own after retirement.

 

Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Virginia Kay (Tony) Steele, Paul Joseph (Darlene) Moffitt, Jason Lee Moffitt, William James Moffitt, and their twins, Victoria Louise (Martin) Tow and Patrick Gerald Moffitt; 25 grandchildren, Dustin Hawkins, Tonya (Aaron) Beck, Shannon Lewis, Stephanie Baker, Brian (Cinnamon) Wildman, Brandon (Jada) Wildman, Jarrod (Amy) Arthur, Jody (Jessica) Arthur, Paul Jesse (Cortney) Moffitt, Julie Elisabeth Moffitt, Chelsea Kidwell, Chrystina Kidwell, Austin Kidwell, Waylon Harder, Aydan Baker, Kaylee Gera Moffitt, Eli Moffitt, Ethyn Moffitt, Aundie Tinkle, Wyatt Sipes, Jasie Sipes, Hunter Sipes, Alex Fuhrman, Kendyll Moffitt, and Keaston Moffitt; great-grandchildren, Andrea, Tre’, Caleb, Andrew, Abby, Kenzie, Maddie, Sabrina, Bailey, Chase, Bryce, Nevaeh, Landon, Jacob, Peyton, Skylar, Bonnie, Annabell, Joanna, and Breanna; siblings, Michael Moffitt and Monica (Bill) Sanders-Clifton; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and mother of his children, Rose; wife, Brenda; great-granddaughter, Evalyn; and siblings, Pauline Moffitt, Ronald Moffitt, and Jeffery Moffitt.

 

Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care with Pastor Kevin Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the Queen-Lee Chapel, Shoals.
