Juanita Mae Taylor, aged 88, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2025 at Memorial Hospital & Healthcare Center in Jasper, Indiana.
Born on February 26, 1937, in Loogootee, Indiana, she was the beloved daughter of the late Willie and Delphia (Smith) Davis. Juanita married Donald Ray Taylor on April 27, 1956. As a devoted homemaker, Juanita was the heart and foundation of her family. Her greatest joy came from the time spent with loved ones, creating lasting memories. She found comfort and fulfillment in gardening and canning, and her passion for square dancing, crocheting, and camping brought her much happiness. Juanita also cherished the winters she spent traveling to Texas with her husband. A longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, her faith was an integral part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Taylor on January 3, 2024, her parents, siblings: Francis (Edith) Davis, Nina June (Jake) Bell, and infant, Marvin Davis.
Juanita is survived and lovingly remembered by her children: John (Lea Ann) Taylor of Alfordsville, Paul “Tony” (Melinda) Taylor of Greenfield, Neina (Mike) Engleman, Greg (Lisa) Taylor, all of Loogootee and Debra (Greg) Smith of Mitchell; her 13 grandchildren: Brianna Taylor, Mikayla Taylor, Erica Gentry Hiner, Kelly Harrison, Travis Taylor, Jon Ray Taylor, April Boone, Josh Engleman, Chris Taylor, Jill Taylor, Jayme Cone, Ryan Smith, and Reed Smith; 4 step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with burial to follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on the same day from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
