With Commissioners President absent, Commissioners Vice-President guided the County Commissioners through Tuesday’s agenda in a near-record 17 minutes. Derrick Wilson of Garmong Construction updated the commissioners on the progress of the courthouse project. Wilson told the commissioners work on the third floor is nearing completion and painting is underway on the second and first floors. The main electrical component is now in, and the building should have its electrical system up and running by the second week of April.
In regular business the Commissioners approved Community Corrections applying for the annual Community Corrections Grant and the Airport Board’s request for the County to act as a pass-through for a design and planning FAA grant. Airport Manager Erica Burkemper told the commissioners the $160,000 grant would be used for design and planning for a new taxiway and future building. Burkemper said the Airport Board will furnish the match for the grant, and there would be no expense for the county.
In other business, Combined Dispatch Director Julie Riker reported the county had received a $30,000 seed grant, which will be used to update the county’s 9-1-1 addressing technology.
The next County Commissioners meeting is scheduled for 8:15 am, April 8, in the Commissioners Room at the Daviess County Government Center.
