Washington City Council to Meet April 14 Following Swearing-In Ceremony

The City of Washington’s Common Council will hold its next meeting on Monday immediately following a 6:30 p.m. swearing-in ceremony at City Hall. Mayor Rhoads will administer the Oath of Office to Jonathan King, the city’s newest firefighter, ahead of the meeting. Agenda items include a resolution opposing major cuts to municipal property tax revenues, the final reading of an ordinance to create a fund for Indiana unclaimed transactions, and the presentation of the 2024 TIF Management Redevelopment Report by Clerk-Treasurer Beth McGookey. Following the Council meeting, the Board of Public Works and Safety will convene to review claims and approve minutes. The board will also consider a request from Beth Gabhart of Discover Downtown to close a section of Main Street for a Color Run event on Saturday, May 17. Both meetings will take place in the Council Chambers at 200 Harned Avenue.
