In case you were focused on Wrestlemania and missed it, the Washington Hatchets have a new basketball coach in Bo Burkhart. The 2014 Bosse graduate was a multi-sport standout in high school before playing college basketball at Southwestern Illinois College and Central Methodist. Coach Burkart began his coaching journey as a graduate assistant at Xavier for Travis Steele. He then spent three years as an assistant coach at Southwestern Illinois before returning to Evansville in 2023 to be the associate head coach at Bosse, where his father, Shane, is the long-time head coach. In 2024, the Bulldogs advanced to the Class 3A Semi-state. At the Hatchet Invitational in Montgomery on Saturday it was a long day dodging raindrops but they did get it in and Castle was your champion shooting a stellar 302. Good showing by the local teams as Barr-Reeve and Vincennes Lincoln tied for 7th in the 20 team field with a 326 and Washington shot a 329 for 9th place.

One Softball note:As you heard on Fair Shake last year, Former North Daviess Cougar slugger Hadley Parisian had transferred from Miami of Ohio to Ohio State. Well Hadley had a big Friday night, she hit a 3 run walkoff home run for the Buckeyes against Michigan. So far this season Hadley is hitting .308 with 16 home runs.

Reds score 2nd-most runs in team history since 1900 in 24-2 rout of Orioles at Camden Yards. Austin Wynns was the star among 10 Reds players who got hits, batting 6-of-7 with six RBI out of the No. 9 spot. Third baseman Noelvi Marte actually drove in seven runs batting eighth, going 5-of-7 with a grand slam. DH Austin Hays was the other Cincinnati starter to notch four hits on Sunday, batting 4-of-6 including a three-run homer.

RBC Heritage at Harbour Town on Hilton Head Island, Justin Thomas birdied the first playoff hole against Andrew Novak to end a nearly 3-year PGA Tour drought, his last win coming at the 2022 PGA Championship.

On Saturday the Pacers jumped to an early lead with hot shooting and despite Milwaukee trying to make it interesting, Indiana came away with a 117 – 98 win. Game 2 is on Tuesday evening, Game 3 is Friday evening, Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
