Edward Herman Eaton 71 of Glenwood Springs, CO went to his heavenly home on September 11, 2022. Ed was born in Vincennes, IN on September 23, 1950 to the late Margaret Dunn Eaton and Roscoe H. Eaton.
Ed was a geophysical field engineer for several companies, including Schlumberger and Colog, before he retired in 2014; as he graduated from Purdue with a bachelor degree in electrical engineering. He performed underground tests in wells and boreholes, all over the country. The data Ed acquired provided valuable information for the energy, mining, construction, groundwater, and environmental industries. He loved the work and the travel that went with it. Ed had a favorite restaurant in every town, and in towns along the way, and could be counted on to share that coveted information. He took a particular liking to seafood and creole cuisine. When he was stationed in northern Nevada, he would also treat visitors to dinner at one of his favorite Basque restaurants. Geophysical field work took Ed from coast to coast, north to south, but he was once denied entry to Canada for field work, due to a not-so-clean record! He played a big part in the adoption of televiewer logging for the mining industry, and he trained a generation of field engineers in proper televiewer operation. Ed’s colleagues appreciated his intelligence, kindness, generosity, and attention to detail, and they will miss him.
Ed is survived by his siblings; John Eaton of WA, Kenneth Eaton of IA, and Judith Eaton of Vincennes. He was preceded in death by his parents.
