Richard H. “Dick” Schroeder

Richard H. “Dick” Schroeder, 85, passed away at 4:45 am on December 15, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family. Dick was born on April 1, 1937 in Bicknell, IN and is the son of Roscoe and Hilda (Grabbe) Schroeder. Dick married Marilyn Strange on August 9, 1959 and they celebrated sixty three years of marriage.
 
Dick was a graduate of Sandborn High School and is a member of Wabash Community Church. He loved his church and his church friends. Dick started working at Wabash Parts as a delivery boy in 1957 and eventually owned and operated the business spending sixty nine years there. He enjoyed yard work and woodworking and he loved the Christmas season as he would take great pride in his decorations that he put out every year. He also enjoyed traveling and taking many great trips with his wife Marilyn and their good friends, and he especially loved to go with friends and work out at the Good Samaritan Hospital Cardiac Rehab Unit. Most importantly though, Dick loved following all of the activities of his grandson Nick.
 
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Schroeder of Vincennes; daughter, Kathy Clinkenbeard and her husband Brad of Vincennes; grandson, Nick Clinkenbeard and his wife Paige; two great grandchildren, Jackson and Nolan Clinkenbeard; as well as several brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Hilda Schroeder.
 
Friends may visit with Dick’s family from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Wabash Community Church, 1033 N. 10th St., Vincennes, IN. Dick’s memorial service will take place immediately following vistation at 1:00 pm with Pastor Dale Biehl officiating. Dick will be laid to rest in Salem Cemetery in Westphalia, IN. The Schroeder family has requested memorial contributions be made to Backpacks of Love for VCSC, Wabash Community Church, or the donors choice.
