Former NBA star Chris Herren will be in Washington today to speak to students at Washington Junior High and High School and tonight to the community about his struggles with overcoming addictions. Herren was a McDonald’s All American in High School, played college ball, and was drafted to the NBA. During the way, he became addicted to drugs and lost it all. Herren now speaks to millions of students and parents each year, and brings a powerful message. The program will start at 6pm tonight in the Washington High School Auditorium. Tickets are free and available at the Washington Community Schools website or on Eventbrite.

If there was ever a doubt about his availability for the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Patrick Mahomes put an end to it. In a press conference Mahomes said he would absolutely be “ready to go” for Sunday’s game. Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain in the first quarter of Saturday’s 27-20 divisional round playoff victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He returned to the game in the second half.
