Marcella May Pruiett, 99, formerly of Washington, IN, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday Morning, February 5, 2023, at Wickshire Assisted Living, Indianapolis, IN.
Marcella was born on May 7, 1923, in Loogootee, IN. She is the daughter of William and Effie M. (Evans) Carroll.
Marcella married Raymond Pruiett Sr, who preceded her in death in 2020. Marcella worked for over 20 years in the Pike & Daviess County accessor’s office at the Petersburgh and Washington Court Houses. Marcella was an active member of the Washington Free Methodist Church and the Women’s Fellowship. She was very involved with Operation Christmas Boxes for over 20 years. Her smile, laugh, and faith touched many a soul, and her knitting and quilting will warm many of us for years to come.
Surviving is her daughter, Gwendolyn “Gwen” Dean, and her husband, Ronald, of Indianapolis, IN; nine grandchildren – Kimberly, John, Christy, Daymond, Chance, Michelle, Matthew, Haley, and Ashley; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Raymond Pruiett, Jr.; her siblings, Russell Carroll, Bernice Carroll, William Carroll, Roscoe Carroll, Dorothy Hawkins, and Betty Wilz.
Friends may visit Marcella’s family from 10:00 – 12:00 on Saturday, Washington time. February 11, at the Washington Free Methodist Church, 1155 Troy Road, Washington, IN; her funeral service will begin at 12:00 at the church. Burial will follow at Sugarland Cemetery, where she will be buried alongside her husband, Raymond.
