Matthew G. Dillon passed away Friday, February 3, 2023, at the Linda White Hospice Center in Evansville.
Matt was born in Vincennes on June 30, 1964. He was a Winslow Eskimo, a 1982 graduate of Pike
Central High School, then enlisted in the UNITED STATES ARMY. He loved the country he served. He
received Army Achievement and Good Conduct medals and Driver and Mechanic, Expert (Rifle and Hand
Grenade) and Marksman (Pistol) Badges. Most of his life he was an entrepreneur and independent
contractor. Most recently, he enjoyed working the counter at NAPA Auto Parts – Powers Motor Parts.
Matt could break anything, and he could fix anything, except his final health complications.
Matt is preceded in death by his loyal and cherished K9 companion Diamond. He is survived by his
mother and stepfather, Carol and Mike Sherman, sister Pepper Mulherin (John), brother Tony Dillon
(Sara), nieces, nephews, and cousins. But perhaps most dear to him, he is survived by many friends to
whom he was fiercely loyal. He was a man of reflection and few words, but he had a story or anecdote
for anything.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 2 at Harris Funeral Home from 10AM – 1PM EST followed by a Funeral Mass
celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg with burial following at Ashby Cemetery in
Winslow.
In lieu of flowers, please offer Mass intentions for the repose of Matt’s soul at Sts. Peter and Paul
Catholic Church or your parish. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
