Sen. Bassler (R- Washington) welcomed Ava Swartzentruber, a homeschool student from Washington, to the Statehouse, where she served as a Senate page in January. Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor, and interacting with their state senator. “I always enjoy the opportunity to meet pages from our area like Ava,” Bassler said. “The Indiana Senate Page Program is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about their state government and how it operates.” Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays. To learn more about the Senate Page Program, visit www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/page-program.
