An autopsy is scheduled for today on a Bedford man found dead in Lawrence County on Friday. On Friday, deputies were called to the 1100 block of Lafayette Avenue to report the discovery of a deceased male’s body. The man was identified as 42-year-old James D. Stewart of Oolitic, Indiana, and he died as a result of a gunshot wound. Investigators are trying to determine if the gunshot wound was self-inflicted, accidental, or from another person. Evidence has been collected, and the investigation continues with the autopsy scheduled for today. Officials stress there is no danger to the public, and this incident appears to be an isolated one.
