Ann Burton Bobbitt passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on March 18th, 2023, in Washington, Indiana.
She is proceeded in death by both sets of grandparents, Paul and Irene Burton, Alvin “Hap” and Nona Tomey; her sister Donna Burton; and her Aunt Joan Burton.
She is survived by her children, Gunnar and Claudia Hutchison; parents, Donald and Phyllis Burton; siblings, Tambra Forbey and her husband Keirsten, and Kevin Burton and his wife Debbie; nephews, Scott Forbey and his wife Bonnie, Tyler Forbey and his wife Tiffany, Jesse Burton and family, and Garrett Burton and family; niece, Julia Burton and family; 3 great nephews; 4 great nieces; her dog, Cooper; and her grand-dog, Archie.
Annie will forever be remembered by her gracious and caring nature, life-of-the-party attitude, an outpouring love for her family and friends, and her world-class toughness.
Care – Annie forever vowed to help people of the world, who are often overlooked, misjudged, and mistreated by society. Her, nearly, 30 years of work in mental health services, juvenile and adult probation, and Drug Court proved her vows and care towards others. She helped countless people battling depression, mental health, and addiction. She would give her shirt off her back for anyone who needed it.
Life of the party – Annie had a personality, attitude, and smile that would immediately light up a room. She was always ready for a good time, a round of golf, and a cold Miller Lite. Good times for her included taking multiple trips to the beach with her toes in the sand, drinking beers with her “Tribe”, taking spontaneous trips to Nashville and hole-in-the-wall places throughout the Midwest, or enjoying evenings on her back porch with Cooper.
Love – Annie loved with her whole heart. Starting with her children, Gunnar and Claudia, doing anything to provide them with joy and happiness. Her unwavering support and love she provided to her family and friends will never be forgotten.
Toughness – Annie, throughout her life, showed incredible toughness. Beginning with raising two children as a single mother. Her greatest display of toughness was shown during the final few years of her life, battling multiple forms of cancer during a global pandemic. Her toughness will be inspiration to many people in the future, something she would be incredibly proud of.
Annie was, truly, a great woman, mother, sister, and daughter. Her impact will forever be felt by her family, friends, and dog Cooper. Her sacrifice, support, love, and strength will be remembered by everyone whose lives she affected.
Memorial services will be held at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN on Friday March 24th, 2023, at 2:00pm. Friends may visit with Ann’s family from 10:00 am until the hour of service time of 2:00 pm on Friday at Goodwin-Sievers. Ann will be laid to rest in Bethel Cemetery in Washington, IN. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Ann and her family. In lieu of flowers and gifts, Annie requests donations to be made to the Knox County (IN) Drug Court Foundation.
