Paul V. Rhodes

Paul V. Rhodes, 82, of Petersburg, passed away March 26, 2023 in Petersburg, Indiana. He was born July 14, 1940 to Clarence and Bertha (Edrington), Rhodes. Paul married Mary Tyree July 1, 1962.
Paul graduated from Vincennes University and Oakland City University with associates degrees. He was in the Navy and retired from the Army. He had the honor of being part of Honor Flight of Southern Indiana EVV12 in April 2022. He retired from Whirlpool after 34 years. He was a member of the Petersburg First Baptist Church, Petersburg VFW #3587, and the American Legion Post #0179. He was involved in several community organizations including the Boy Scouts where he was a Scout Master.
Paul enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, his dogs, fishing woodworking, and mushroom hunting.
Paul is survived by his wife of 60 years Mary, his son Chris (Kristy) Rhodes of Petersburg, IN; daughters, Kim (Bill) Runnion of Haubstadt IN and Debbie (Jim) Crowley of Evansville IN; Grandchildren, Jesse (Elise) Rhodes, Kayla (Daniel) Schmitt, Jordan (Alicia Pendley) Cates, Adam (Hannah) Ferguson, Kyle (Lexi Grove) Woods, Stacey Runnion-Downs, Nicole (Jake) Blanton, Danielle Schultz and Megan (Collin) Davis. Great grandchildren, Colton Rhodes, Kenadie Schmitt, Dexter Schultz, Charlie Kirkpatrick, Margot Schultz, Maggie Kirkpatrick, Emily Kirkpatrick, Graham Davis, MaTayla Woods, Elijah Rhodes, William Davis, and Fallon Blanton; Brothers, David (Dana) Rhodes, Larry (Patty) Rhodes, Roger Rhodes, and sister Nancy (Gary) Smith along with several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Bertha (Edrington) Rhodes, sisters Carolyn Eckert and Faye Reber.
Services for Paul will take place at 1 PM EST on Thursday, March 30, at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, IN with visitation from 10 AM until service time. Pastor Michael Miller will be officiating and burial will follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg. Military Honors will be performed by the Petersburg VFW Post #3587. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations please be made to PAWS of Petersburg and may be mailed to PO Box 63 Petersburg, IN 47567. Harris Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
