Colts take Florida QB Anthony Richardson with the 4th pick in last nights opening round of the NFL Draft. Needing depth at the QB position Richardson has tons of development to do with only 13 career starts in college but has tremendous athleticism.
IU point guard Xavier Johnson received a waiver granting him a sixth year of eligibility Wednesday, clearing the way for Johnson to return as the Hoosiers’ floor general for one final year, in 2023-24. Johnson missed all but 11 games last season with a broken foot, suffered in the Dec. 17 loss at Kansas.
It did not take long for ex-Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner to find a new home after entering the transfer portal. Only two days after putting his name in Buchner announced his commitment to Alabama where he will reunite with Tommy Rees, who is entering his first season as the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator after holding that same role at Notre Dame for the previous three seasons.
Dick Groat, a two-time World Series champion and one of only 13 men to play in Major League Baseball and the NBA, died Thursday in Pittsburgh. Groat was 92. Groat was the National League Most Valuable Player and NL batting champion with a .325 average in 1960 Groat was part of title winners with Pittsburgh and St. Louis.
