Vincennes Water Utilities Working to Meet EPA’s Lead and Copper Rule Revisions Requirement by 2024

Vincennes Water Utilities has until October 2024 to detect any lead in the system, as per the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Lead and Copper Rule Revisions requirement. The EPA aims to eliminate all lead service lines in use. Vincennes Water Utilities General Manager Kirk Bouchie stated that lead levels are typically minimal or nonexistent during routine tests. With the help of their records dating back to the early 1970s, the utility workers will collect samples and submit them to water advisory company 120Water, which is digitizing paper records to improve tracking. While the cost is unknown, Bouchie is preparing for any possible outcomes.
