A 12-year veteran of the Indiana State Police, Senior Trooper Zachary Smith, was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated on Thursday afternoon at his residence in Floyd County. The incident unfolded when Troopers from the Indiana State Police Sellersburg Post visited Smith’s home to deliver administrative paperwork. Upon arrival, they observed Smith operating his personal vehicle and displaying signs of impairment. The officers engaged in conversation with him in the driveway. Following the subsequent investigation, Zachary Smith was taken into custody for Operating While Intoxicated. He was transported to the Floyd County Jail, and has been placed on administrative leave.
