Gibson County: On Sunday night, September 24, at around 10:35 p.m., Trooper Hurley initiated a traffic stop on a 1995 Buick on US 41 near CR 350 North due to a defective taillight and expired registration. The driver, identified as Austin Ricks, 25, of Evansville, exhibited signs of impairment. During field sobriety tests, Ricks resisted arrest, resulting in a physical altercation. Trooper Hurley deployed a Taser to subdue Ricks, leading to his apprehension. Ricks received medical treatment at the scene and was later transported to Gibson General Hospital. Following treatment and release, he was taken to the Gibson County Jail, where he is presently in custody with a bond set.
