Orange County – Yesterday, around 12:50 p.m., authorities responded to a tragic three-vehicle collision near the intersection of State Road 37 and County Road 900 S. The crash resulted in the loss of a Mitchell woman’s life. Preliminary investigations revealed that Debra Jean, 64, was traveling south on State Road 37 when her 2011 Chevrolet car approached a rightward curve. Simultaneously, Joseph Dosier was heading north on State Road 37, taking a leftward curve with a 2020 Peterbilt tractor-trailer. Jean veered left of her lane and collided with the semi-trailer’s left tandem axles. Her vehicle struck head-on with a 2023 Peterbilt semi-tractor driven by Sidney Dosier. Sidney Dosier’s semi came to rest off the highway’s east side, blocking the northbound lane, while Jean’s vehicle ended up on the west side, down an embankment. The roadway remained closed for several hours as authorities cleared the scene of debris and vehicles. Tragically, Jean was pronounced dead at the scene by the Orange County Coroner. Sidney Dosier was transported to I.U. Health Bedford Hospital for observation. The investigation is ongoing, with no additional details available at this time. Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be contributing factors. The family of the deceased has been notified.
