Richard E. “Bear” Riffey, 81, passed away during the afternoon of December 29, 2023. He was born in Indianapolis on October 10, 1942, to Samuel T., Jr. and Anna (Raymann) Riffey.
After high school, Richard joined the Indiana National Guard. He was employed at McCord’s until it closed, and then worked at the Amax Coal Mine. Later, he was a truck driver.
Richard loved motorcycling and was a member of the Fifth Column Motorcycle Club. He attended the Calvary Holiness Church in Petersburg.
Those left to cherish Richard’s memory include his stepson, Donnie Cato; stepdaughter, Alana Morning; sister, Sharon (Arthur) Nalker of Springhill, Florida; and brother, Mark “Hippi” (Jackie Burris) Hand of Otwell. Richard leaves three nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Samuel T. Riffey, Jr.; and a stepdaughter, Cynthia Cato.
