Georgia Elliott, 89, of Indianapolis, formerly of Loogootee, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Wellbrooke of Avon, in Indianapolis.
She was born October 4, 1934 in Loogootee, Indiana to the late Howard and Eldeen (Webber) Guthrie.
Georgia married Fredrick E. Elliott on May 4, 1957 and he preceded her in death on December 11, 2006.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Georgia had a servant’s heart and was a member of the Brute Society within the Diocese of Evansville. She was a founding member of the Red Hat Society – Loogootee chapter. Georgia loved to sew, crochet, plastic canvas and doll making. She enjoyed traveling and reading mystery novels.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Eldeen Guthrie; husband, Fredrick E. Elliott; sisters, Mary Catherine Verbal and Charity Williams; brothers, John Guthrie, William “Bill” Guthrie, and Charles Guthrie.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Gary) Lents of Indianapolis, Tom (Theresa) Elliott of Bloomington, Illinois, Greg (Sherry) Elliott of Niceville, Florida, and Patty (Brad) Brown of Greenwood; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. A Rosary service will begin at 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Martin County Right to Life.
