Daniel E. “Danny” Claycomb, Jr.

Daniel E. “Danny” Claycomb, Jr. left the world on February 1st, 2024. We believe with the significance of 2-1-24 = 27 that he picked that day to comfort us and show that he knew it was his time to meet The Lord. He was born on September 4, 1961, in Vincennes, IN. He is the son of Daniel E. Sr. and Merna (Dreiman) Claycomb.
Danny lived a life full of courage and determination. His unwavering dedication was evident in his work as he was employed by Wabash Food Service for 38 years, where he worked until he began his fight with MDS. He was also a member of the Harmony Society. Earlier in life Danny followed in his dad’s footsteps continuing on the number 27 legacy at age 16. He became known in the racing world by winning the Sportsmanship Chandler points by winning 25/28 races, claiming 4 championships at different tracks- including Tri-State Speedway, Martin County Speedway, and Red Hill Raceway. He won an Illinois State Championship race, and he finished 28th in the UMP National Points. These are just a handful of his racing accomplishments throughout the years. His passions lay in woodworking, yard work hobbies, Notre Dame Football, and FLO racing. But his truest and proudest joy was being a Papaw. He showed this in attending games, events, and teaching his grandchildren woodworking and life skills. He taught them to be kind, love Jesus and how to be selfless in leading by example. Danny was known for his loyalty, a trait that endeared him to many.
Danny was a loving son to his parents, Daniel Sr. and Merna Claycomb, a devoted father to his daughters, Alicia Bezy and her husband Mark of Vincennes, Arielle Harris and her husband Tyler of Vincennes, a cherished brother to Brent Claycomb and his wife Lana of Vincennes and Janice Stafford and her husband Randy of Monroe City. His grandchildren Cane Claycomb, Cale Bezy, Kaylin Bezy, Luke Harris, and Reid Harris meant the world to him. The legacy of Danny’s kind spirit, passion for life, and enduring dedication will live on through them.
