Local residents, contractors, and city officials gathered last night at the Washington Community Building for an update on the Business 50 Road improvement project. Work will begin next week on the project. For this year, the focus area will be S.E. 2nd Street, next to Wendy’s to Hwy 257. Starting next week, and signs have been posted, the area will be SE 2nd to Hwy 57, including the Southbound Lane of Hwy 57. This work will last until May. From there, the focus goes to the northbound lane of Hwy. 57 to Mill Street. This work will run from May to July. Mill Street to Hwy. 257 will be closed from July to October. Of course, this will all be weather-permitting along the way. There will be access points for homes and businesses along the route throughout the construction. This is progress moving forward, and everyone’s patience will be needed during this time. Please be mindful of construction crews along the way. The rest of the project will take place next year.
