Billie Sue Burris, 82 of Washington passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, September 3, 2015.
Billie Sue was born June 26, 1933 in Washington to the late William Garner and Flossie Thompson Garner. She was a 1952 graduate of Washington High School. Billie Sue was wed to James A. Burris on September 21, 1956 and they enjoyed 58 beautiful years together. She worked as a library clerk at the Washington Carnegie Public Library. Some of Billie Sue’s greatest passions were mushroom hunting, fishing, planting flowers and playing cards, reading and especially poetry. Billie Sue enjoyed life, but family most of everything.
Billie Sue left behind her adoring husband, James A. Burris; four daughters, Christina Cassidy (Mark) of NC, Cheryl Chattin (Steve) of Washington, Pamela Johnson (Jeffrey) of TX, Jennifer Noble (Steve) of Avon; and one son, James A. Burris Jr. (Samantha) of Lebanon; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and a brother, Dick Garner; and a favorite Aunt, Mae Schuck.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 7, 2015 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M at Gill Funeral Home 308 E. Walnut St. Washington, IN 47501. There will be a funeral service conducted by Miss Yvonne Evans onTuesday, September 8, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation an hour prior also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakgrove Cemetery.
