James Richard Lake, 74, of Shoals, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Jasper Memorial Hospital.
Born October 22, 1949, in Portsmouth, Ohio, he was the son of Thomas F. and Betty (Howel) Lake.
James graduated from high school in Fairbanks, Alaska and was a Veteran of the United States Army from 1965 to 1970, serving in Germany and Vietnam. He later worked in IT at Blue Cross/Blue Shield and MD Anderson in Houston, Texas.
His pastimes included participating in VFW pool tournaments, reading books, being outdoors, and enjoying the company of his feline friends.
Surviving are his mother and step-father: Betty (George) Lake-Foster; children: Tania (James “Bub”) Brown and Thomas “Tom” Lake; grandchildren: Zack (Ericka) Brown, Kimi (Chad) Cundiff, Zane Lake, and Remington Lake; great-grandchildren: Adilynn, Izacc, and Gabriel Brown, and Greyson and Miles Cundiff; 2 brothers: Michael (Julie) Lake and Jeffrey (Cheryl) Lake; and nieces and nephews, Heather (Rob) Witt, Josh Lake, Haley (Bauer) Hall, and Colton Lake.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas F. Lake.
