Daviess County’s ban on open burning will remain in place. The County Commissioners voted to continue the burn ban after hearing from County Emergency Management Director Scott Myers. Commissioners were told that the forecast is for the extremely dry weather to continue for at least another two weeks. Myers said while rain is forecast for Friday, the predictions are for 1/2 inch to 1 inch of rain, which will not be enough to alleviate the dry conditions.

In other business, the commissioners received three bids for paving. County Road 300 W, south of US 50. The bids were taken under advisement until the September 24th Commissioners meeting. The Commissioners also gave permission for the Sheriff’s Department to join the SSI Incentive Payment Program and for County Recorder Jamie Chapman to begin the annual United Way Campaign for county employees.

Commissioner Nathan Gabhart gave an update on the Courthouse project. Gabhart said inspection of the roof should be completed this week and that the project remains on schedule. The completion of the renovation is scheduled for April.
