Nan Sharon Leonard, 83, of Washington, IN, went to her heavenly home on September 30, 2024.
Nan was born in Washington, IN on May 23, 1941, to the late Melvin and Carley (McLemore) Leonard. She married Larry Gaither on July 3, 1960. Nan graduated from Washington High School and worked at Shoe World as a manager but spent most of her married life as a homemaker. She loved babysitting for nieces and grandchildren and loved being with her husband and family. Nan enjoyed shopping, decorating, listening to Glen Campbell and Neil Diamond, she loved reading books and doing word puzzles. She loved to take drives through the countryside with her husband and she was an avid sports fan of the Washington Hatchets and loved watching IU basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals. Nan was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Washington, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her youngest brother, Rex Leonard.
Nan is survived by her husband of 64 years, Larry Gaither; children Jeff (Lori) Gaither, Steve (Ellie) Gaither, Cheryl (Terry) Jones; grandchildren Kristen (Brandt) Petty, Haley (Tyler) Webster, Benjamin (Adeline) Gaither, Alison (Ryan) Hoffman, Sydney (Dustin) Carpenter, Tyelor (Kristen) Jones, Luke (Shawna) Jones; great grandchildren Bowen and Brynlee Webster, Hutton and Olyn Petty, Evelyn Jones, Reagan, Lennon and Harrison Carpenter
Siblings Jack (Carol) Leonard, Gary (Barb) Leonard, Jill (Chuck) White, Rex (Vicki) Leonard; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A private family-only Celebration of Life ceremony will be on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 1pm at Bethel Church of Washington at the South location. Cremation services in care of Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home. Online memories may be shared with family at www.goodwinsieversfh.com
