Marilyn J. (Davis) Gregory, 89, of Washington, IN, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Daviess Community Hospital with her family by her side.

 

She was born on August 24, 1935, to the late Robert Lee & Gladys Josephine (Purdue) Davis in Knox County, IN.

 

On December 21, 1963, Marilyn married the love of her life, John William Gregory, and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1990. Together, they had five children: Michael, Debra, Randall, Robin and Amy.

 

Marilyn worked in the Daviess Community Hospital dietary department for many years as a dietician up until her retirement. She was a member of Church on the Way in Washington, and was strong in her faith. She loved to cook, especially for her family. She enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and NASCAR races whenever she had a chance. Marilyn loved her family deeply, and enjoyed spending time with them, particularly her grandchildren.

 

Survivors of Marilyn include her children, Michael (Janet) Gregory of Washington, IN, Debra (Johnny) Newberry of Vincennes, IN, Lorri & Randall Gregory of Washington, IN, Robin (Jeff) Jones of Washington, IN, and Amy (Jeff) Decker of Washington, 12 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren, her siblings, Dannie (Susan) O’Bryan, Alan (Bonita) Mattingly, and Steve (Karen) Mattingly, and several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, Robert and Gladys, her son-in-law, Johnny Newberry, her grandson, Joseph Banard and her siblings, Leanna Strange, Janet Mattingly, and Robert Davis.

 

Visitation for Marilyn will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 10:00-1:00pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St., Washington, IN 47501. Following visitation, a funeral service will be held at 1:00pm. Following funeral services, Marilyn will be cremated and a private family burial will be held at a later date.
