The Shoals Public Library is seeking donations and community support to cover unexpected costs in its major expansion and upgrade project. Library Director Sylvia Albaugh explained that while the library was awarded a $500,000 OCRA grant earlier this year, construction bids received in August came in significantly higher than expected due to rising costs and historic building requirements. The library is now facing a deadline of October 31 to raise the additional funds needed to move forward with the project, which includes ADA compliance updates and a new children’s area. Donations can be made in person at the library, by mail to P.O. Box 909, Shoals, IN 47581, or through PayPal via the Friends of the Shoals Public Library.
