North Daviess High School in Elnora will participate in Indiana Food Day on Thursday, October 24. The event will have vendors and state agencies from Indiana Grown and the Indiana Farm to School group. Vendors such as Fischer Farms, Red Gold, Rose Acre Farms, and Piazza Produce will be present, along with the Indiana Department of Education, the Indiana Department of Health, and the Purdue University Extension Office. The event will take place during the high school’s lunch period. The North Daviess School Corporation has committed to supporting local agriculture by purchasing beef from Fischer Farms and apples from Olde Lane Orchard. These local purchases are expected to retain $38,000 in agricultural sales within the county and reduce truck miles on intrastate highways by over 138,000 miles this year alone.
