Tragic Single-Vehicle Crash Claims Life of Huntingburg Woman in Jasper

A tragic accident occurred on October 30th at around 3:55 p.m. when Jasper Police responded to a single-vehicle crash at US 231 and Division Road. The driver, Linda Lou Dalziel of Huntingburg, was discovered in a 2007 Toyota Camry with severe injuries, and the vehicle’s engine compartment was on fire. Jasper Police and first responders removed Dalziel from the burning vehicle and began life-saving efforts until Memorial Hospital EMS took over and transported her to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The investigation revealed the vehicle had been traveling at high speed on the northbound shoulder of US 231, veering off and colliding with a utility pole. Jasper Police were supported by multiple agencies, including the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department, Dubois County Coroner, and other emergency services. The department also expressed gratitude to the citizens who risked their safety to assist at the scene.
