High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Arrest Following Hit-and-Run on State Road 57 in Washington

A property damage accident was reported at the intersection of Cumberland Drive and State Road 57 in Washington on November 5, 2024. The caller stated they were rear-ended by an older brown sedan that fled the scene. Multiple officers responded, and a pursuit ensued with the suspect vehicle traveling at speeds over 100 mph through local roads. Barr-Reeve School briefly went into lockdown as the pursuit passed nearby. The suspect was eventually detained by State Police near Odon, and the lockdown was lifted. The driver, who had a blood alcohol level of 0.270, was taken to Daviess Community Hospital for evaluation. The vehicle was impounded, pending proof of insurance and a sober driver for release.
