Kenneth C. Solliday, an active member of the Washington community, passed away on November 4, 2024, in his hometown of Washington, IN. Kenny was born on November 3, 1937 in Washington and lived most of his life there.
Kenny’s journey began in the small town where he was born and raised, and it’s there that he also chose to build his life. He was a proud graduate of the local high school, further enhancing his knowledge by attending college, which set the stage for his accomplished career. Kenny dedicated many years as a land surveyor for Midwestern Engineers in Loogootee, IN, where his work brought precision and care to the community’s landscape. After retirement, he continued to use his skills as a surveyor in private practice.
He was married to his beloved wife, Nancy “Hobson” Solliday, on June 17, 1956, until her passing in 2016. They were the parents of three children: Dawn Banks (Steve) of Corydon, IN, Kathi Hill (Denny) of Washington, IN, and Jeff Solliday (Terri) of Bloomfield, IN. His legacy continues through his 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one precious great-great-grandchild.
Kenny was a Mason and a Shriner and engaged in many passions, including golfing and various other sports. His friendly and wise nature endeared him to many friends, creating bonds that celebrated the joy of companionship and the value of shared experiences.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, his sister, Geraldine Kennedy, his brother, Bill Solliday, and his parents, Vincent and Hazel “Carpenter” Solliday. Kenny was admired by a large circle of friends and numerous nieces and nephews and will be profoundly missed and eternally cherished by them all.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 10:00 to 12:00 at Fredrick and Son-Gill Funeral Home. Service will follow at noon officiated by Pastor Mike Burkhardt, with burial immediately after at Sugarland Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Research.
