Robert “Bob” McCracken, 86, of Montgomery, IN passed away peacefully November 10, 2024 with his family by his side. He was born in Washington, IN on April 11, 1938 to the late Foster L. and Pauline (Albin) McCracken. Bob graduated from Montgomery High School in 1956 and continued his education at Vincennes University and Purdue University. He married Janet Sue Davis on September 22, 1970. They spent 37 married years together before her passing in 2007. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army and National Guard. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #461 and attended First Christian Church where he served as a deacon. He worked for the McCord Corporation in Washington, IN and Essex Wire Manufacturing in Vincennes, IN for several years before his retirement. Bob’s main passion was farming; spending much his life farming grain and raising beef cattle. He maintained several acres of land along with his brother Steve and nephew Brent. In his free time he enjoyed talking with people, often getting to know them over a cup of coffee; attending farm auctions, and keeping up with the stock market. He never met a stranger and would graciously help anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Foster and Pauline McCracken; wife Janet Sue Davis McCracken; and sister Janet McCracken.
He is survived by his daughter Kristen McCracken of Indianapolis; brother Steven J. McCracken of Montgomery; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Bob. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024 from 11am-1pm at 2020 State Street, Washington, IN 47501. A Funeral Service will begin promptly at 1 pm with burial at Plainville Cemetery immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First Christian Church or Bethany Christian Church in Bob’s honor.
