Washington Carnegie Public Library to Boost Digital Literacy with National Grant

logo-on-gray-idea-2

Washington Carnegie Public Library has been selected as one of over 100 public libraries nationwide to receive funding from the Public Library Association (PLA) to enhance digital literacy. Supported by a $2.7 million AT&T contribution, the funding will enable the library to provide workshops using DigitalLearn.org resources. These workshops will help bridge the digital divide in the Washington community, where a 16% poverty rate and language barriers limit access to technology. Topics will include Internet Basics, Email Basics, and using Android and iOS devices. Sessions will be offered in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole. Workshops will run from January to May 2025, with varying dates and locations. For more information, contact the library at (812) 254-4586, email info@washingtonpubliclibrary.org, or visit www.washingtonpubliclibrary.org.
