Orange County Deputy Zac Andry remains in critical but stable condition after being shot multiple times during a traffic stop early on January 3. Deputy Andry approached what appeared to be a disabled vehicle at the intersection of US Highway 150 and State Road 56. The driver, identified as Austin Schepers, opened fire, striking Andry four times, including once in the head, before fleeing the scene. After an extensive manhunt, Schepers was located in Louisville on the evening of January 4. During an encounter with law enforcement, Schepers was shot and killed. Deputy Andry is being treated at the University of Louisville Hospital, where he remains under sedation and on a ventilator. Doctors remain cautiously optimistic, praising his resilience as he faces daily medical challenges. Donations to support Deputy Andry’s recovery can be made through Springs Valley Bank and Trust in French Lick or the Indiana Fallen Heroes Foundation.
