High-Speed Chase Ends Without Driver Capture in Washington

A traffic stop turned into a high-speed pursuit early Monday morning, with officers chasing a vehicle reaching speeds of up to 120 mph. The incident began at 1:52 a.m. near 150 W and Old US Highway 50. The driver fled westbound, throwing an object off a bridge and continuing through Knox County before heading south on Highway 41 toward Evansville. Officers reported speeds exceeding 100 mph at several points during the pursuit, with the vehicle also driving the wrong way on Hart Street. The chase was terminated at 2:07 a.m. after the suspect vehicle was lost near 15th and Willow Streets. Officers later detained an individual on foot at 18th and Mentor Streets, but they were not identified as the fleeing driver. A confiscated item was marked for destruction. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Washington Police Department.
