Robert H. Winklepleck


Robert H. Winklepleck, 75, passed away on June 20, 2015 in Florida. Bob, as his friends and colleagues called him, was a lifetime hard worker and servant of his country. A good father and husband. He will be missed by them all.
Bob was born in Indiana to Harold and Mary Jane (Welsh) Winklepleck. They moved to Florida when he was ten but returned to Indiana often to visit family and friends in the Elnora/Odon area. Bob served honorably in the USAF for 25 years as an officer and most of those years as an aviator. He served 3 tours of duty in Vietnam.
Bob married Julia (Christenberry) Vance in 1988. Julia was raised by her maternal grandparents, William and Clara Christenberry, who were born and raised in the Elnora/Odon area. They moved to Illinois when Julia was an infant.
Bob is survived by: his wife, Julia Winklepleck; his sons, Brian and David; his daughter, Stacey; 5 grandchildren and a sister, Karen and her husband, Terry of Kentucky.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pat.
It was Bob’s wish to be buried in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon, Indiana. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the cemetery with full military honors provided by the Odon VFW Post #9627.
