Washington High School teacher Valerie Clarke has been selected as one of 129 recipients of the prestigious 2025 Lilly Teacher Creativity Fellowship. The grant will fund her project exploring how shared experiences are perceived differently, inspired by a family trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. Clarke, who has long dreamed of visiting the Rockies, plans to document the journey through books, journaling, and photography, ultimately compiling a photo journal to study individual perspectives. She aims to bring the lessons of diversity in perception back to her classroom, encouraging her students to share their viewpoints and collaborate. The Lilly Fellowship supports Indiana educators with grants of up to $15,000 for renewal projects, fostering creativity and growth in the classroom.
