Duke Energy has begun aerial tree trimming along high-voltage power lines in west central Indiana, a project that will continue through late March. A specialized helicopter crew using an aerial saw will clear vegetation along power corridors from Washington to Edwardsport, Sullivan to West Terre Haute, and other areas. Officials say the work is necessary to maintain safe and reliable service by preventing tree growth from interfering with power lines. Property owners along the affected areas have been notified.
