Shoals has received a $26,500 Bridging the Digital Divide grant from Regional Opportunity Initiatives (ROI) to provide affordable internet access to underserved residents. The town contributed $5,500 to install public hotspots, with the first location set for Bo-Mac’s. The initiative, led by Shoals Town Council President Cary D. Albright and Dr. Keith Dayton of IU’s Kelley School of Business, partners with the Hoosier Community Network (HCN) to improve digital connectivity. IU graduate students are mapping service gaps and implementing security measures to ensure reliable access for residents. Albright hopes this project will serve as a model for other rural Indiana towns.
